Welcome to my homepage!

I am a recent Postgraduate from Imperial College London ('20) and a graduate from IIT Bombay ('18), in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Currently, I am working as a Lead R&D Engineer at a Swiss digital health start-up.

My primary interest is in the field of system analysis, strategy development and management of operation in a business or tech domain. Since high school, I have had a passion for analytical problem solving. In junior college, I competed in exams like JEE-Advanced, JEE-Mains, National Mathematics Olympiad, National Science Olympiad, etc. This experience instilled in me a love for Science and Mathematics. As I transition towards the 'practical world' away from academia, I have started to develop a high level of curiosity to understand how different businesses work.

During my undergrad at IIT Bombay, I was a core team member and part of the technical subgroup of Pratham- The First Student Satellite of IIT Bombay. Pratham is IIT Bombay's first student technical initiative in collaboration with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Our Pratham satellite was successfully launched on 26th Sept 2016 with an explorative payload; and the team was commended directly by Indian Prime Minister and State Chief Minister. I developed my digital design and system analysis skills by conducting virtual in-orbit simulations to analyze the temperatures of the various critical components of the satellite and later published a research paper of the same in the International Astronautical Congress (IAC), Mexico, a leading conference in space technology.

After my Freshman year, I completed an Institute Technical Summer Project (ITSP) at IIT Bombay to design and manufacture a miniaturized version of an automated robotic arm. I learned about the designing and manufacturing techniques in the field of robotics, and especially how you go about solving a problem from scratch.

After my Sophmore year, I successfully completed the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) under Prof. Arindrajit Chowdhury, characterizing a wing design for building a fully functional ornithopter. I designed and developed a rotary mechanism to simulate airflow over the wing and measure the lift, thrust and drag forces on the wing using a load cell. I was awarded the Undergraduate Research Award (URA01) for exemplary research in this project.

During the summer after my Junior year, I completed a research internship in the Chemical Engineering Department at Louisiana State University, USA under Dr Krishnaswamy Nandakumar. I learned to perform Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) analysis of two-phase flows, (principally solids and liquids) for a falling cluster of particles. This was one more advanced skill I developed in the mechanical engineering domain.

During my Senior Year, after Pratham was launched, I studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark at the Technical University of Denmark for one semester with the much prestige Erasmus scholarship. During this exchange semester, I got to travel to 15+ countries across the European continent which gave me a lot on international exposure about different cultures.

After graduation, I completed a post-bachelor internship at Vedanta Resources, India. I spent the summer learning about the 2400 Megawatt Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in Odisha, India. I learned about ways to improve the overall reliability of the TPP through the reduction in the number of forced outages.

Between September 2018 and September 2019, I completed a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. My master's thesis, completed under Dr Petar Kormushev in the Robotic Intelligence Lab, was concerned with the design, manufacture and testing of components for SLIDER, a custom knee-less bipedal non-humanoid walking robot. Most importantly, I gained experience in practical applications of additive manufacturing and its limitations. After the completion of the project, I got to publish about my development in the IEEE International Conference of Robotics & Automation (ICRA), Las Vegas conference.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing badminton, tennis and chess. I enjoy hiking and running as well and I have recently started to develop interests in rock climbing and bouldering. After high school, I qualified and played a national level Air Rifle Shooting tournament in India as well.
